CASTLIST:
Congrats to the cast of the Importance of being earnest! Thank you to all who auditioned! we are very excited to bring this hilarious show to life. We are very proud of all of you!
(Be on the look out for the script, and as a reminder, our first rehearsal Friday, August 28th)
AUDITION PROCESS:
- SIGN-UP You must first sign-up for Theatre Enrichment, if you have not done so, please fill out the Fall Enrichment form and select how you will audition. (in-person or video) (Space is limited, TUITION is $175 per actor)
- READ the Audition Packet which includes rules and requirements with your parent or guardian in its entirety.
- CHOOSE a monologue to perform for audition. (monologues have been provided for the following lead characters: Algernon, Jack, Cecily, Gwendolyn, Lady Bracknell, Miss Prism, Lane, and Reverend Chasuble. However there are plenty more characters in this production)
- AUDITION in-person on, Tuesday, August 18th, a time slot will be given to you OR video submission sent by 10pm, Wednesday, August 19th. - Please share all videos to Ms. Jacky via google drive - [email protected]
- CALLBACKS will be held on Friday, August 21st from 9-11. (Callback list will be posted with sides on Thursday, August 20th) Bring your completed and signed copy of the conflict calendar to auditions with you. If you are sending a video, please send a copy via email.
- CASTLIST while we would love to cast everyone, there are only 20 possible roles. If you are not cast, please do not be discouraged, we will have auditions for the spring musical in October and would love to see everyone in the production!
- FIRST REHEARSAL, August 28th, 8:30 am-11am. Rehearsals will be held each Friday from 8:30am-11am and some Tuesdays after school, 3:30pm-5pm (A snack and water bottle is recommended to bring to each rehearsal)
- PERFORMANCES will be October 23-24th at the Fuquay Arts Center
Play Summary:
The Importance of Being Earnest is a witty comedy about two wealthy men, Jack and Algernon, who invent secret personas to escape boring social duties. Jack pretends to be a rebellious brother named Ernest when he visits London, while Algernon invents an invalid friend named Bunbury to avoid family events. Chaos erupts when both men fall in love with women who declare they can only love a man named Ernest. After a series of hilarious misunderstandings in the countryside, a long-lost handbag reveals that Jack is actually Algernon’s older brother, and his birth name is truly Ernest, allowing everyone to live happily ever after.
